Laser Teeth Whitening
Laser Teeth Whitening Treatment
In laser teeth whitening, the process is similar to power bleaching with the difference in using argon laser to activate the bleaching agent instead of the usual light source used in traditional in-office procedures. It is popular as this whitening teeth treatment is fast, painless and produces immediate results.
People with extreme teeth stains and discoloration however, may have to undergo several sessions of laser teeth whitening to achieve the desired levels of teeth whiteness.
In laser teeth whitening, the dentist will prepare the teeth by cleaning them first as any plague or bacteria may hinder the whitening teeth process. This is something very hard to do yourself if you are whitening teeth using teeth whitening gel at home. A rubber dam is used to isolate and protect the gums while a whitening gel is applied onto the teeth. A laser light is then used to activate the gel in a chemical reaction that stimulates the color change in teeth.
The whitening teeth treatment gel is a scientific formula consisting of ph-balanced hydrogen peroxide which when activated by light, penetrates teeth to remove discoloration and stains. The end result can be teeth that are 5 to 6 shades whiter.
Immediately after the procedure, patients may find their teeth sensitive to hot or cold food but this sensation disappears after a few days.
A take-home teeth whitening laser system is also available, which works the same way as the laser teeth whitening in the dental clinic except that the procedure needs to be repeated for three nights.
How long the results last really depends on the individual. Some people have teeth that stain easily. Consuming certain types of inherently strong staining food and drink such as sodas, coffee and tea will make teeth stain faster. Smoking too, causes teeth to stain very quickly so quit smoking to get longer lasting whiter teeth.
This is an expensive procedure but the cost varies from dentist to dentist. To get better value for money, do shop around to look for better deals in whitening teeth.
